Their first album, "Inbetween" (VÖ: 08.04.22 on soda. mit himbeer records), proves to be an atmospheric piece of work, several songs (like “Mon Amour” & “Head in the Clouds”) found their way into rotation on Austrian radio station FM4.

Aze combine all facets of RnB, Indie and Pop with sparks of oriental music; in it they find and offer space to feel, to express and to process -for themselves, but also for their audience.

Blue Hawaii (CA)   Electronic

Blue Hawaii first met in 2008, at the heart of Montreal's burgeoning underground loft party scene. Finding their start with a bedroom minimal electronic sound, they gradually evolved into a more live and dance forward project. The essence of their work is threaded through the confident sanguine vocals and songwriting of Raphaelle “Ra” Standell and the distinctive production of Agor "DJ Kirby" Cowan. Blue Hawaii uniquely assembles every aspect of their music together.

Brimheim (DK)   Rock

Behind “Brimheim” is Copenhagen based musician and songwriter, Helena Heinesen Rebensdorff. Her stage name is an homage to her Faroese roots, translating to ‘home of the breaking waves’. Like the illegitimate love child of PJ Harvey and Caroline Polachek, Brimheim possesses an emotional darkness and a sense of mystique that pushes forward with pop’s promise of catchy choruses and simple melodies.

Choses Sauvages (CA)   Indie rock, disco

Their creative energy was transmuted into twelve songs taking place on a second album entitled Choses Sauvages II, under the Audiogram label.

DAYYANI (DK)   Pop

Danish-Iranian Isabella Dayyani is slowly building a prodigious youthful universe of soulful, energetic pop music that will make you yearn for 2002. Diaphanie (CA)   Singer-songwriter, folk

Diaphanie was born and raised smack-dab in the centre of Canada, where sunflower fields and dive bars abound. Her family legend tells of a distant relation to legendary songstress Joni Mitchell, and the air in her childhood home was thick with the sounds of jazz, blues, folk and classical music. With a voice as limitless as the prairie sky and a knack for storytelling, Diaphanie draws new breath into the folk genre while remaining faithful to both her history and the folk tradition.

Donna Blue (NL)   Indie, vintage pop, chansons

Moving from a dream state to lush sensory excitement, the duo behind Donna Blue invites you into a grainy, cinematic realm. For those who accept the invitation, the reward is tantalising: the twang of jangly guitars, sensual vocals, coolness and velvet curtains concealing a mysterious parallel universe. Once you’re in, you’ll want to surrender to their noir-romantic sound. Their music reminds one of the likes of Nancy & Lee, Serge Gainsbourg and Julee Cruise.

Eli Preiss (AT)   Hip-hop

Since the WIE ICH BLEIB EP at the latest, it's been clear that Eli Preiss is here to stay. With the upcoming release of her debut album LVL UP she rises far more than just +1 above the digital. Positioned between screen and body, Eli Preiss once again emphasises in hard punchlines with a soft voice that no one can contain her light.

Eydís Evensen (IS)   Post-classical

In line with the traditions of her homeland, Eydís Evensen achieved an outstanding feat of tonal expressiveness with her debut “Bylur” last year. The Icelander carefully plays her way through dreamy piano harmonies, sometimes solo, sometimes accompanied by violin, cello or trumpet, but always with a well-formulated melancholy and a drama that immediately wreaks havoc on one’s own soul. Evensen composed all her works in isolation, in the seclusion of the Icelandic hinterland or in her flat in Reykjavik.

Then the planet spins even faster.” First Hate has performed over a hundred shows across Europe, Asia, the U.S., and Russia, “We are on a quest of love, yes it’s as cheesy as that.”

She was recently shortlisted for 2022’s highly prestigious ESNS Music Moves Europe Award. Hailed as a Gen Zer excitingly redrawing 90s classic indie rock, a deep admiration for contemporary acts such as Car Seat Headrest and Mitski is also abundantly clear.

Their newest release “Happiness” is delivers its promise of happiness to fans of H.E.R., Jorja Smith, Arlo Parks or freekind. Ghostly Kisses (CA)   Dream pop

Music has always been around Margaux Sauvé, born in Quebec to a family of musicians; she picked up the violin at the tender age of five. Moving on to the Conservatoire in Quebec, she quit due to “missing the fun part of it” but still loved music so started to play violin in local bands. Singing came a bit later as she thought that “to be a singer you had to have a powerful voice and be loud”, something that doesn’t come naturally to her as a quiet, thoughtful person.

Gus Englehorn (CA)   Indie rock, garage

Before writing Dungeon Master, Gus Englehorn lived in Salt Lake City, Utah with his partner and bandmate Estée Preda. In those days, Gus was an awarded snowboarder, although he always dreamed of being a songwriter. If he couldn’t be Dylan maybe he’d be Daniel Johnston. Surprising, paranoid, studded with synths and strings - an outsider opus that sparkles with Dada spirt - Dungeon Master is deeper than a cellar, blunter than a club. A shivering introduction to an artist who’s finally arrived.

Grant (AT)   Indie rock

The bio of the five musicians reads like a drunken night out in Vienna: discovered at a local open mic night, they recorded their first album while still in school. A record label deal follows, a second album and a hit song: Tschick. After Grant's pop-inspired third album "Größenwahn," they found their way back to their roots with their current EP "Was soll singen bringen" (VÖ: Mai 2022). Dangling between old and new, Grant is creating their own german speaking indie rock realm.

Album opener "Lights On" kicks off the album with a sucker-punch of neon-drenched magnetic pop, showcasing Hatchie's ability to combine dense, atmospheric layers of sound with huge melodies to create heady, irresistible songs.

JayWood (CA)   Indie, alternative

Jeremy Smith needed an escape from his state of mourning when he began working on 'Slightshot' [Captured Tracks], his most recent LP as JayWood. After the loss of his mother in 2019 and a global standstill with multiple social crises throughout 2020, Haywood-Smith yearned for some forward momentum. Merging fantasy scenarios, personal anecdotes, and infectious pop and dance instrumentals, 'Slingshot' is a self-portrait of JayWood at his surface and his depths.

Kerosin95 (AT)   Hip-hop, rap

KEROSIN95 is: figure, project and performance. Kerosin’s world seems like a playground of possibilities. A place where every story gets its stage and every feeling is given expression. Fear, softness, hardness, fun – everything is packed into texts, sometimes seriously, sometimes playfully. Kerosin revolves around topics such as the relationship to oneself, the world in its heaviness and how to deal with it. There is contra and criticism on the program – and Kerosin with a big grin on stage. They try to create spaces in which confrontation can take place.

Kiwi Jr.  (CA)   Indie pop, rock

Smash cut to Kiwi Jr.’s third album, Chopper, overseen by trusted pilot Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs) on storied Sub Pop Records. Turning nocturnal with necks mock turtle, our Local Kiwi Jr. takes neon flight off the digital cliff - like The Monkees starring in Blade Runner; like Michael Mann directs Encino Man. Ten songs with synth shimmer, zen gongs with yard strimmer. The signs along the highway read “LESS BAR, MORE NOIR AHEAD.” Ah, those late summer, Joe Strummer, Home on the Range Rover Blues.

Leftovers (AT)   Punk, grunge

Leftovers are the new underground secret tip from Vienna. The live performances of the four 20-year-olds are reminiscent of the elemental force of the early days of punk. Wild, raw, loud and full of energy. That's exactly what makes up the magic that is currently forming around the Leftovers. In the last two years, Anna, Leonid, Alex and Leon have gained an ever-growing fan base and generated a lot of attention on social media with their authentic attitude.

Meskerem Mees (BE)   Indie, singer-songwriter

The name "Julius" was an obvious choice for her debut album and has a very simple and emotional reason for Meskerem Mees. Born in Ethiopia, she spent the days from her earliest childhood growing up on a farm near the Belgian city of Ghent after being adopted by a Belgian couple. Part of the story: a donkey named Julius who remains her faithful companion for many years. And now, on the 23-year-old’s first album, Julius has duly been immortalised.

Showtime:  THU, 22.09.2022 / 19:15 @ ST. PAULI-KIRCHE

Mooneye (BE)   Indie rock

After a debut EP that OOR Magazine labelled ‘a collection of beautifully crafted pop songs’, debut album 'Big Enough' takes the mesmerizing guitar sound of Mooneye further, yet at the same time lets singer-songwriter Michiel Libberecht take the centre stage even more. Comparisons with Fleet Foxes and Neil Young will probably live on for some time. Apart from the fact that there are worse things in life, there’s no denying that Mooneye is still second to none in blending folk, rock and indie pop.

Motherhood (CA)   Art rock, post punk

A trio of deep-thinkin’ rippers, New Brunswick’s Motherhood achieve one very rare and uncomplicated feat: they sound EXCITING on record and stage alike. Unlike so many awkward experiments by peers and ‘adventurous’ contemporary rock outfits, Motherhood’s music explodes with the kind of charm and exuberance you can’t just order. No, it’d take years of late nite couch-crumpled conversations, bathroom stall barfs and parking lot laughter to achieve the kind of chemistry these three exude.

Naima Bock (UK)  Folk, indie pop

The roots of Naima Bock’s music are far reaching. Born in Glastonbury to a Brazilian father and a Greek mother, Naima spent her early childhood in Brazil before eventually returning to England and various homes in South-East London. This heritage is combined with what interest her today – studies in archaeology, work as a gardener, and walking the world’s great trails – Naima’s music draws from family, the earth and the handing down of music through generations.

Saveus (DK)  Pop, soul

Saveus is definitely one of the biggest talents on the Danish music scene. Saveus is characterized by a pompous and captivating sound. Warhaus (BE)  Alternative pop rock

It has been half a decade since Warhaus, the brainchild of Maarten Devoldere (Balthazar), suddenly conquered our musical hearts with the triumphant double victory of We Fucked a Flame into Being (2016) and Warhaus (2017). The songs of the brand-new album (November 2022) came gushing out if him in a mere three weeks in the sultry city of Palermo. All Devoldere needed was the solitude of a hotel room, a guitar, a microphone, and a heart that had recently been broken in thousands of pieces.

Whispering Sons (BE)  Post-punk

Belgian five-piece Whispering Sons brings a dark and unique blend of experimental and frenetic post-punk. Combining elements of no wave, industrial and avant-punk, the anxious and propulsive instrumentation is relentless and eerily abstracted, whilst vocalist Fenne Kuppens’ words, sung in a dramatic and distinctive low register, inject that extra, central tension. With their infamously ferocious live shows Whispering Sons has also firmly cemented themselves as a must-see live band.
