Ada Oda (BEL)
Rock, Alternative, Italian Indie

Italian post-punk from the Brussels underground? Ada Oda offers an energetic blend of music at the crossroads of eighties rock and Italian pop. The project was initiated in 2020 by César Laloux (The Tellers, BRNS, Italian Boyfriend), who met Victoria Barracato on Tinder and suggested, given the consonance of her name, that she sing on his tracks in Italian. Victoria accepted the challenge, and the foundations of the project were laid.     César’s barebone songs describe with a touch of irony his vision of love, deceit and the generation that surrounds him. His lyrics were first translated into Italian and then adapted by Victoria, the daughter of a Sicilian immigrant. On stage and in the studio, the duo is accompanied by Clément Marion on bass (David Numwami, Judith Kiddo), Alex De Bueger on drums (Alaska Gold Rush, Gros Cœur) and Aurélien Gainetdinoff (San Malo, Yolande Bashing) on guitar.    The band released its first album, “Un amore debole”, at the end of November 2022 on 62 records/PIAS and is currently finishing a new LP to be released Q1 2025.

Anna B Savage (GB)
Singer-Songwriter, Folk

Anna B Savage has always asked questions in her music, but on her new album 'in|FLUX' answers are no longer her quest. Vulnerability and curiosity have consistently been operative words to describe her work and on her second album she ruminates on the complexities and variables of humanity, the pain or pleasure of love, loss and earthly connection, capturing it all in devastating, elating and powerful ways.

The key differences between this and previous releases: she's not anxious about what's on the other side. She's come to appreciate staying afloat - basking even - in the open ended, uncertainty of the grey area. She confidently explores lyrical themes and musical tones of duality - she's a true artist and she's given herself grace to believe that which has been audibly freeing.

Bænch (DK)
Indie, Rock

With a quotable sound that draws on many shades from the legends of psychedelic rock from the late seventies to the British garage rock revival of the early 2000s, BÆNCH have carved out their own little niche in the Danish music scene. Equipped with a nose for progressive arrangements between visceral guitars, spherical synthesizers and complex drum figures, the quartet's debut album “Presence Of Everything” (2022) follows the motto: Thoughts are free - who can guess? There is hardly anything predictable here, song after song. Instead, ideas are formulated like dramatic short films and driven to ever new auditory climaxes. This becomes particularly clear in the almost ten-minute title track of the album, in which BÆNCH show off all the qualities of their songwriting. This spring sees the release of “Skipped A Step”, the first new sign of life after a two-year dry spell, setting the bar considerably high for the upcoming second album. Fans of modern psychedelic to progressive rock music can look forward to a brilliant foretaste at their concert in Hamburg.

Bibi Club (CAN)
Avant-Pop, Indie, Alternative

Feu de garde is not about devastation. Carefully tended by the bibis, the flames bring light, comfort, life. The embers transmit energy, and their warmth protects us against frostbite as a harsh winter finally comes to an end. Deep in the forest, near a river or beneath the 40 overpass, communal power unfolds in all of its vastness, then bursts into thousands of tiny sparks, into melodies as festive as they are insightful. Dizzying spells, mysteries and transformations make up the mesmerizing journey that is Feu de garde, which reaches out to those they have met along the way and to the road itself, however dangerous. The duo formed by Adèle Trottier-Rivard and Nicolas Basque explore emotional and physical territories, overcoming obstacles with intense, raw yet benevolent radicalism. A former member of the very first exclusively female scout group, les Guides, Adèle reconnects with the values that made her who she is: courage, perseverance, sisterhood, friendship. The years she spent in that community, discovering nature and developing intense relationships, became part of her identity and informed her writing, all the way to the creation of Feu de garde. The influence of Moondog, Stereolab, and, more than ever, Suicide can be heard in the direct, singular approach of the album, which also features group chants inspired by Girl Guide outings in the woods. Harsh things become magical as the duo transforms them into lyrics. The concrete dust that fills the city air turns into bright sparks that rekindle childhood glee. Pushing back the boundaries of genres and letting their creativity run free, Bibi Club fill Feu de garde with relentless rhythms. On stage Adèle grabs percussion instruments and takes risks. Liberated, seductive, undeniable. In the crowd bodies are moving, floating, dancing the night away.

BLUAI (BEL)
Indie-Rock, Americana, Folk

Three completely different biographies, three completely different women - but a musical vision that brings them together. BLUAI are an all-female trio from Antwerp who caused a sensation in Belgium last year in particular. Within just a few months, Catherine, Caitlin and Mo won the country's three biggest music competitions: from Humo's Rock Rally to the Sound Track Contest and De Nieuwe Lichting by Studio Brussel. And yet their debut album “Save It For Later” was only released this spring. It's an album like a Polaroid picture that carries the scents of country pop and indie folk with a heart note of Americana and was entrusted to the renowned producer Tobie Speleman. The brief was as short as it was concise: “Nashville Tuning”. In view of the head cinema that this song material evokes between old ranches, wide open plains and nostalgic coming-of films in sepia tones, the result can probably be described as successful. A trio that we will undoubtedly be hearing a lot more from - starting with their gig in Hamburg.

Bodega (USA)
Indie, Rock

Sometimes you have to move backwards to move forwards. Just ask punk cultural commentators BODEGA, whose new album sees them carve a new future from fuzz-soaked, consumerism-skewering shards of their past. “It’s something we’ve been wanting to do for years,” guitarist and vocalist Ben Hozie explains of Our Brand Could Be Yr Life – a collection of catchy indie-rock ruminations on the slow-creep of corporate-think into youth culture, first written eight years ago. Then known as BODEGA BAY, the Brooklyn group recorded those songs as a paradoxical double album.

Now, BODEGA – completed by lead guitarist Dan Ryan, bassist Adam See and drummer Adam Shumski – have reinterpreted Our Brand Could Be Yr Life for 2023. “We thought of it like a director remaking one of their old films, like when Hitchcock remade the Man Who Knew Too Much, or when Yasujirō Ozu re-did The Story of Floating Weeds,” says Hozie, who it’s never a surprise to hear talking about music through a cinematic lens. After all, this is a creative who, in addition to his work in BODEGA, moonlights as a celebrated indie filmmaker (PVT Chat, his 2020 drama about online sex work, won rave reviews).

Bolis Pupul (BEL)
Electronic, Dance, Alternative Pop

It’s no coincidence that Bolis Pupul’s music sounds the way it does. Born in Belgium to a Chinese mother and Belgian father and raised in the super-cool creative city of Ghent, Bolis’ music is a joyous cross-cultural assemblage. Mixing widescreen electronica – think early Mr Fingers-like techno and Yellow Magic Orchestra’s exuberant man-machine minimalism – with the warm-hearted and wonky naivete of Belgian New Beat, Bolis’ singular sonics are at once playful, emotive, unrelenting and tender.

Bon Jour (AT)
Alternative-Pop, Indie-Pop, Electro

The 3D-headed alternative band Bon Jour from Austria will release their debut EP “And So We Met Again” including the new single “The Lost Art Of Trying” on May 19th For the first time, the up-and-coming alternative pop collective Bon Jour presented themselves as alt-J support in front of 5,000 people. Their first single “Blue Moon”, released shortly afterwards, immediately reached number 1 in the FM4 charts. The single was created in just two days and shows the ease of the DYI band - because they produce, manage and market themselves. In their new single “The Lost Art Of Trying”, the band combines unconventional harmonies with catchy melodies and sings with joy about failure.

They dedicate the EP “And So We Met Again” to themselves. Bon Jour have been friends for over 20 years and have performed together on stage, but have never written songs together in this constellation. All it took was a “just-for-fun” session, during which their first single “Blue Moon” was immediately written. And so they met again. Since their start, things have been going uphill for the 3D band in Austria and Germany. With airplay all over Europe, the band has surprised with illustrated magazines and music videos created by KI, which have already been nominated for the Austrian Music Award.

Bush.ida (GER)
Feministischer Rap, Hip-Hop

Bush.ida, a creative powerhouse, brings the fiery energy of the inner ram to the rap game. She sets new standards with radical tenderness and collaboration, using eloquent lines and thunderous beats to challenge us to look deeper and question patriarchal structures.
Growing up in the countryside, ida explored nature and the body at an early age. Excursions into wage labor at breathtaking heights (as a flight attendant LOL) and the study of education and sustainability sciences made ida aware of the omnipresent patriarchal imprint. During the pandemic, she created “VAGIDA”, a manifesto against the label “weaker sex” and a strong statement for all birthing bodies.
In 2023, she dropped the EP “WILL KOMMEN IM BUSH”, which catapulted ida directly into the German rap scene. The next EP “BUSH zu BI” (fall 2024) is an ode to queerness and the complexity of ida's identity. With at least five fresh tracks, Bush.ida invites you to “Schalalalaraffenland”, where dominance and submissiveness, passivity and activity come together. This EP is a proud declaration of ida's queerness and non-binary identity, taking listeners on a musical journey of discovery and leading them straight to the heart of Bush through thick beats and sharp rhymes.

Denturck sings about the search for personal freedom, about his dearest friends, his homosexuality and relationship, but doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable topics like gay bashing either. It doesn’t get more personal and fragile than this.  Musically the influence of Denturck’s record collection is inevitable, and Dressed Like Boys’ sound mainly echoes that of the 70s. Denturck takes it into the 21st century with tape recorders, (real!) strings, Wurlitzers, Rhodes, biscuit tin like drum sounds and a wonderful reunion with the (grand) piano, the first ever instrument he learned to play as a child.  For all the noise Denturck likes to make with DIRK., Dressed Like Boys allows him to turn the volume down a bit for an intimate look into his soul.

Efterklang (DK)
Kammer-Pop, Indie, Alternative, Krautrock

For Efterklang, change was never intended to be as programmatic as it was an essential, natural constant that defined their music. Since their debut “Tripper” (2004), the Copenhagen-based duo has made countless journeys across all stylistic areas of contemporary music, always in search of new ideas, different traditions and foreign influences. Art as cartography of inner continents? Albums such as “Magic Chairs” (2010) or “Windflowers” (2021) are full of atmospheric speckles of sound, delicate drawings ranging from ambient to art pop, from indie and post-rock to eclectic chamber music and contemporary classical music. With their new album “Things We Have In Common”, released this September, Efterklang complete a three-album cycle that now comes together thematically in a collective spirituality and belonging. It is probably the most sophisticated work to date by this project, which has now become a trio and still knows how to shine in a thousand facets - but always using its very own prism.

El Perro del Mar (SWE)
Indie, Alternative

Big Anonymous is the eighth album from El Perro del Mar, the shape-shifting Swedish singer, instrumentalist and composer who has been one of the most consistently intriguing pop artists of the 21st century. El Perro del Mar is the alter ego of Sarah Assbring and was named after a stray dog she once encountered on a Spanish beach, who lifted her spirits at a fragile moment. The musical path she’s followed since has constantly surprised. Every time you think you’ve put her in a box, this Schrödinger’s Dog eludes you.  Her first, self-titled album was released in 2005 and its original blend of melancholic guitar songs and a girl-group sound garnered glowing reviews. Her second album, From the Valley to the Stars (2008), was a suite of keyboard-driven mystic ballads that won Swedish Radio’s award for Best Pop Album. She evolved into dark pop and electronic dance with the albums Love Is Not Pop (2009), which included the now classic ‘Change of Heart’, and Pale Fire (2012), and then into global pop with a political edge in Kokoro (2016) and We Are History (2018). Her 2020 album Free Land was a clarion call for artistic freedom and featured Blood Orange as a guest artist.  She has toured internationally with Lykke Li, José González, Taken by Trees and TV on the Radio, while remixers of her songs include Robyn, Vessel and Saint Etienne. She has co-written the upcoming album by the futuristic pop artist Zhala, and is in increasing demand as a composer for stage and cinema. For Royal Swedish Opera she co-wrote – with regular collaborator Jacob Haage – the score for Hlín Hjálmarsdóttir’s dance piece Riptide (2021), and she is creating the scores for two films: Four Little Adults by Selma Vilhunen, and Filip Jan Rymsza’s Object Permanence.

And in between, there are their songs; songs that are intended to redirect the feeling of collective exhaustion and silent depression into a collective, loud rebellion - against a dysfunctional system that is riddled with failed climate policy and a resurgent fascism; they are alternative love songs for mindfulness, for confidence, for: Endless Wellness, in other words. “What happiness” - we shout (the first longplayer of the new band of hearts).

Meet Isaac Roux, nom de plume of Belgian singer-songwriter Louis De Roo. After graduating from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), signing a record deal, scoring several hit singles and with a sensational debut album coming up, Roux is more than ready for his big breakthrough. If LIPA doesn’t ring a bell, then ‘Paul McCartney’s music academy’ certainly will. In 2015 De Roo was admitted to study there for four years, even having the chance to work on some songs with Sir Paul himself. It certainly perfected his English, which he impeccably uses to put his emotions and soul into songs, wrapped in guitars that build up at the right moment. Think: Bon Iver, Ben Howard, Perfume Genius and My Morning Jacket. Take debut single ‘White Rose’, heavenly indie folk with just the right amount of edge, a full sound, and the warm glow of De Roo’s characteristic voice. It brought him victory in ‘De Nieuwe Lichting’ (‘The New Class’), a steppingstone to a thriving career. Spotify was quick to provide full support, and radio stations in Belgium and The Netherlands were head over heels. Follow-up singles ‘Colours’ and ‘Autumn Love’ followed suit and opened doors in Germany (radioeins) and Austria (FM4), earning Roux a live session on German national radio station Deutschlandfunk Kultur.

jolle (GER)
Pop, Hip-Hop

It's a story that only Hamburg nights can write: jolle's musical journey begins in a karaoke bar, where she is booked on the spot as the voice for a national advertising campaign. Two pandemic years and a full address book on her smartphone later, jolle has created an artistic environment in which she can turn her very own visions into reality. She launched her solo career in 2022 with Lana-del-Rey-esque pop music in English. Word of her vocal and lyrical talent spread quickly. This is followed by numerous studio invitations from producers and songwriters such as Benjamin Asare and Malte Kuhn (both Cro, Peter Fox, Helene Fischer, Disarstar, among others), Ben Walther/cant.be.bought (badchieff, sharaktah, kalim, reezy, 1986ig) and Josi Miller. Artists such as Darwin Miller, viny baby and raumfisch ask jolle for features, and she also shares the stage with acts such as Import Export. In her songs, jolle aims to create a surface for identification between diffuseness and ruthless honesty. The switch to German is therefore a logical step: with a fresh 365XX label deal in the bag, her first single in German was released in June 2023. “grosse freiheit” is about the flow of change and shaking off doubts. Looking to the future, jolle absolutely doesn't need to have them: Her music perfectly captures the nuances of human emotions and at the same time takes us back to the city streets at night, where life takes place between flashing lights, glassy eyes and booming bass.

Lambrini Girls (GB)
Riot Grrrl, Punk, Indie-Rock

Brighton’s Lambrini Girls (Phoebe Lunny, guitar/vocals - she/they, Lilly Macieira, bass - she/they) have rapidly ascended the ranks of the UK music scene. From sharing the cover of Kerrang! with Sleater-Kinney to props from BBC Radio 1 and NME, to a nomination for Rolling Stone UK’s Rising Stars Award, and being Iggy Pop’s new favourite band.

Lambrini Girls have a strong artistic bond over their creative common ground - hot button societal issues combined with a biting, tongue-in-cheek lyrical style all their own. Their new single God's Country is a thunderous punk anthem from Lambrini Girls, boldly confronting Britain's far-right surge. Produced with Gilla Band's Dan Fox, it merges raw power with sharp social critique. Lauded by BBC Radio 1, 6, NME, and featured on a Kerrang! cover with Sleater-Kinney and nominated for a Rolling Stone UK Award, they played over 100 shows and major festivals in '23, including dates with Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, Gilla Band, Pigsx7 and Iggy Pop.

Over 50 shows booked for '24 so far including festivals across UK, BE, BL, FR, DE, CH and USA, with headline shows now selling out weeks and months in advance. Their very first releases „Drowning In Youth“ and "Wolves" immediately made waves among the austrian scene, before „Superego“ eventually got airplay and support by a number of prominent international Radio DJs all across Europe and was featured in global advertisement campaigns.  In 2016, „Butter“ followed directly in those footsteps. During that time Leyya established themselves as a great live band at european festivals like Reeperbahn, Eurosonic , The Great Escape, Electronic Beats, Primavera Sound, Sziget and Iceland Airwaves. In 2017, they won the Radio FM4 Award at the Amadeus Austrian Music Awards.  „Zoo“ (2017) was the kick-off to a new-era that mounted into the release of their sophomore album „Sauna“ (2018). The albums colourful, quirky sound was met with highest praise from the press, including journalistic heavyweights TIME and Der Spiegel. The duo went on to win another Amadeus Award in 2018 („Best Alternative“) and played a tour of 20+ countries including Mexico and the US and festivals like Benicássim, Nrmal and SXSW.  The iconic video for "Wannabe“ won them an UK Music Video Award as 'Best Newcomer' (2018). While both Marco (Bilderbuch a.o.) & Sophie (My Ugly Clementine) kept producing charting records, they took a break from the band for almost 2yrs before releasing EP "Longest Day Of My Life" in August 2021.

Lézard (BEL)
Indie, Synthpop, Post-Punk, Disco

The ongoing collapse of civilization, however, becomes a lot more bearable to a spicy groove, as Belgium-based collective Lézard have quickly found out. Beneath the quintet’s functional geometry simmers a frenzied hysteria: a Boogie Wonderland for oddballs, misfits and lost souls you can't help but be a part of. With a sound forged in the spirit of Devo, XTC, LCD Soundsystem and Belgian forebears Telex, Lézard have already turned plenty of heads with their ‘disco vogue’ art punk shenanigans. The band wears its garish pop smarts like a too-tight three-piece suit on the hottest of summer days. With the high-wired “Nothing at All” and the equally suave & seedy “Coltrane & XTC” as opening salvo’s, Lézard has proven themselves a rapidly evolving creature. This year, the band will infiltrate plenty of haunts with their notoriously hot-blooded live performances, while setting their sights on penning brand new material this fall.

Master Peace (GB)
Alternative, Rap, Indie-Rock

Growing up in Surrey, Master Peace - real name Peace Okezie - fell deep into the world of indie music, where Bloc Party, The 1975 and Arctic Monkeys quickly became his heroes. Peace spent his teen years at house parties and raves, forming a close circle of fellow ravers whose friendship continues to inspire and inform his music to this day. To Peace, the strength and depth of this platonic love between friends is the core pillar of positive modern masculinity in 2023. To date, Master Peace has released three EPs, and received praise from the likes of NME, Clash, The Face, Wonderland, and been championed by multiple DJs at BBCR1 including Clara Amfo, Vick & Jordan, and Jack Saunders.

OYESONO (BEL)
Pop

It is always amazing to see the creative energy that producers of well-known acts develop when they realize their visions. Jasper Maekelberg has hardly let anything burn in this respect in recent years. Pulling the strings in the background, he has accompanied projects such as Balthazar and Warhaus, Faces On TV and Sylvie Kreusch in the studio, proving time and again that he has a knack for great melodies, arrangements and, above all, overall production qualities. Now, together with singer-songwriter Billie Leyers, he is in the process of realizing his own personal vision. As OYESONO, the duo creates downright erotic alt-pop with a neo-psychedelic touch, which is illuminated in a wide variety of stylistic facets: Downtempo, summery folk, songwriter sensibilities - it's all there. Songs like “Feel It Coming” or “Jenna” are therefore just as suitable for dancing as they are for a relaxed drive into the sunset. Just the right vibe for their gig in Hamburg.

On the journey of this exploration, Pleasing are shedding light onto stigmatised topics of mental struggles, making them ever so more relevant to their listeners. With the upcoming EP “for us to feel lonely”, Pleasing will continue their journey of poetic emotional performances with special immersive experiences for the audiences. Fresh out of nowhere, Hubert Tuyishime (they/them/their) lets their voice resound across the European music landscape, combining classic pop hooks with a stunning voice and lo-fi electronics with the ritual power of gospel music. Although they are still at the very beginning of their career under the alias Porcelain id, the 24-year old Belgian singer-songwriter has already attracted a lot of attention with this year’s debut album “Bibi:1” and not just in their native Belgium. With poetic lyrics about their own life and the convention breaking impetus of their music, Porcelain id knows how to silence a big audience. Yet their raw endearing energy at live shows, also makes people dance, cry and sing at the top of their lungs. Not to be missed!

PRISMA (DK)
Electronic, Dream-Pop, Indietronica

Childhood memories not only bring us closer to our own biography and make us appreciate what was and is - they can also inspire us. Frida and Sirid Møl Kristensen also thought back to the living room of their childhood home, where sunlight refracted in tiny rainbows: the duo PRISMA was born and has since been creating dream pop with shimmering facets of darkwave and indietronica that sound both nostalgic and futuristic. Frida is on guitar, Sirid on bass, both on synthesizers. From the first EP “Her” (2020) to this year's debut album “Something To Respond To”, the Danish sisters' sound has always been tweaked and fine-tuned to realize their artistic vision down to the last sonic detail. The work and dedication involved can be heard in every note of songs like “Into The Sun” or “Lost”. Live, they repeatedly provide moments of auditory delimitation.

Suuns (CAN)
Alternative, Indie, Post-Punk, Dark Electronic

On their sixth long player The Breaks – their second for Joyful Noise Records – SUUNS find themselves lost in limbo. The trio of Ben Shemie, Joseph Yarmush and Liam O’ Neill leans more zealously than ever into their pop instincts. Yet remarkably enough, with that same dauntless abandon, SUUNS have mined a more extreme sonic palette this time around, one that stretches far beyond their core fundamentals as a band The Breaks finds Shemie, O’Neill and Yarmush gleefully experimenting with loops, synths, samples and MIDI instruments like a post-millennial Tangerine Dream messing with downtempo trip hop beats.
Forged between countless plane rides, road trips, van tours and text threads, The Breaks became a product of endurance and a lot of trial-and-error. It’s a record composed in tight fissions of freedom, where spells of whispered intimacy – like on the stunning ballad “Doreen” – are allowed to branch out into the vast glacial dreamscapes of the album’s majestic title track. It captures SUUNS at their most panoramic, curious and exuberant: a constant relay of being adrift and enlightened anew, geared up to eleven. And guess what: the wheels keep on spinning

THEM LIGHTS (LX)
Dark Electro Pop

Enter the kaleidoscopic mind of Sacha Hanlet, singer, songwriter and record-producer based in Luxembourg. While some listeners know the musician as drummer from the instrumental math-rock outfit MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY, known for their kinetic display of energy and extensive touring across Europe, Asia and North America, THEM LIGHTS transcends the boundaries of live instrumentation oscillating between Blade Runner-arpeggios, dark electronica and a mainstream sensibility.  The visual aspect of this project speaks to Sacha Hanlet’s interest in exploring different creative spaces. Building on his expertise as a lighting designer, this bold aesthetic channels the haunted reveries of the 80’s – a pop cultural period that opens up dream landscapes and unconscious visions. Them Lights is a mysterious pop enigma in it’s own right.

Trentemøller (DK)
Alternative, Indie, Electronic

Over the last 25 years, Anders Trentemøller has distinguished himself primarily through atmospheric music with streamlined production qualities. However, ever since his eclectic second studio album “Into The Great Wide Yonder” (2010), it has been clear to his attentive audience that the autonomously thinking Dane is by no means playing his creative hand to the full. On the contrary: beyond style categories and expectations, Trentemøller has created his own multi-layered sound universe over the years. Since 2007, he has been on the road with his five-piece live band and accordingly romps around the tonal spectrum between alternative, dreampop and shoegaze. This is exactly what can be expected for his gig at the Elbphilharmonie: immersive live music in a thousand facets of the present, created by someone who always knows how to challenge himself and his audience.

Σtella (GR)
Indie-Folk, Westcoast-Folk, Indie Pop

On rare occasions, and only if we are very lucky, we get to witness the rise of an artist like Stella Chronopoulou once in a blue moon. Over the last ten years, the Greek singer and songwriter has added one facet after another to her stylistic repertoire and has always managed to shine. Whether it's euphoric dance-pop like on her debut “Σtella” (2015) or the dreamy, warm rembetiko songs from her latest output “Up And Away” (2022) released via Sub Pop - every album, every song is an emotional self-exposure and yet fully thought through, subtle and concise. This is also thanks to the numerous band projects in which Σtella was already active before her solo career: Expert Medicine, Fever Kids or Sad Disco, to name just a few. As a visual artist and musician, she has been able to gain experience on various levels of creative work over the years and gradually incorporates this into her songs. On stage, too, this is a rare case of undisguised, magnificent creation.
